Terms & Conditions

Every commission starts with a clear agreement — no surprises on either side. These terms cover how we quote, how we work, and what happens if something isn't right. Plain language, no fine print.

Orders & Commissions

All custom commissions begin with a written quote approved by you. Work commences only after written acceptance of the quote and receipt of the agreed deposit (typically 50%). The balance is due on completion, before delivery or collection.

Design Approval

You will receive a design proof before cutting begins. Once you have approved the proof in writing, changes that require re-cutting are charged at our standard rate. We are not liable for errors approved by the client.

Materials & Lead Times

Lead times are estimates and may vary depending on material availability and workshop load. We will notify you of any significant delays. HoutWorks sources timber from reputable South African suppliers; natural variation in grain, colour, and character is part of the product, not a defect.

Returns & Remedies

Custom-made pieces cannot be returned unless they materially deviate from the approved design or are delivered damaged. Please inspect your order on receipt and notify us within 48 hours of any issue. We will repair, replace, or refund at our discretion.

Intellectual Property

All designs, drawings, and CNC/laser files created by HoutWorks remain our intellectual property. They may not be reproduced, shared, or used to manufacture pieces elsewhere without our written consent.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Western Cape.
